Rakhi Sawant vs. Aishwarya Rai
May 21st, 2007 by Virendra
I pity Rakhi Sawant.
No, I do not like her. In fact I find her revolting to my taste. But I still pity her. I pity the way media and people in common make fun of her and her style (if she’s got any). I pity the way she is portrayed – an empty head showing herself off. I pity her.Why does not the public go behind any other woman in show business? Say Aishwarya Rai. Rakhi is doing exactly what any showman (all you feminists, when I say showman, I mean show-woman as well) does – gather publicity. Any publicity is good publicity for a showman. This is the motto she is following.
You say we do not want cheap news? Well how many of us will care to listen a news story about Irome Sharmila? Come on, admit it! You have never heard of her. But I bet you watched the mehendi ceremony of Aishwarya Rai. OK, at least a bit of that.
This makes all the difference. An Aishwarya can hijack all the media and she remains beautiful and a Rakhi is given two minutes of footage and even then, the media is trying to ruin our kids’ cultural values by showing such women. I find it really hypocritical. In our society – “Bad accha, badnaam bura”.
I am not much of a Bollywood freak, but I have heard that our Aishwarya darling was the love of Sallu bhai in past. Then Sallu bhai decided to show the old Indian machismo on her. She however chose to remain quite, moving over to Vivek bhai. Well that’s a great example one of the most powerful women in Indian society has set for the Indian women in general. People tend to follow their idols and this is what they learn. If your lover slaps you in public, go ahead- do not report it to police, do not even retaliate; just catch another guy. But Rakhi being kissed by some Punjabi guy is bad for the image of Indian women.
Aishwarya tries her luck in English movies to become an international star, she fails and falls back to the BigBrothers of Indian film industry. Well that’s alright. Meanwhile Rakhi is doing everything just to get one movie.
Aishwarya was invited on a coffee show hosted by a failed producer and her response to 3 rapid fire question was – “No comments”, “no comments” and “no comments”. (Some brains! How did she manage the Miss World title?). And Rakhi does not even know how to talk on TV.
I feel Rakhi is a much better showman, she is atleast trying to grow with whatever she has (?). She is not cheating the competition by joining ranks with BigBrothers of Indian film industry.
I do not like Rakhi but I genuinely pity her.
