The Girl From Guwahati
Jul 15th, 2012 by Virendra
A girl being openly molested in a crowded road in city of Guwahati was an eye opener to me. I have spent some time of my life in the city and have always found it to be very respecting towards woman (just the way most of North Eastern India is). Unlike the “civilised and happening” cities in other part of India, I never saw people sitting on Ladies Only seats in public transport, a harsh remark from a woman used to be enough to scurry off hooligan kids. The girls can marry guys they like, they dress the way they like and can stay late out without any fear, something most girls in our country who live in “big” cities.
Thank you the brave guys from Guwahati for correcting me. Finally I know, Guwahati is after all like any other place in India – full of lechers and cowards. The police is as corrupt as in other places, media is as TRP loving as other places, the Women commission et.al. are as useless as other places and let’s not talk about our legislative representatives.
Though still I have hopes that the person involved would be punished since case has become so well known throughout the world (even BBC was mocking the land of Kali/Durga). But I doubt similar case with no YouTube incidents would ever be pursued and if any action would be taken on the cowards who kept quietly filming the show or standing nearby enjoying it.
Perhaps now, the women from Seven Sister need not come to places like Delhi, Bengaluru or Mumbai to get assaulted and raped. Their own men are capable of doing it – that too in full glare of camera.
PS: Sorry, for you all perverts, you are not going to find any links to that video or images. I think the girl has suffered enough for one lifetime.
