Take me home …

After 8 grueling hours of sitting idly in my office chair, I always look forward to my journey back home. The cab ride always takes away the boredom and worries I have loaded during work hours.Even before it is 6PM, I see people rushing to get the best seats in their cabs. I, being as hardworking as I am, usually get the best one. It is no small task, running down 4 storey on staircases full of other hardworking colleagues of mine talking on mobile. But since I am good at dodging and jumping , I get the front seat of the Tavera most of the times. There are guys in my cab, who leave the front seats for “ladies” and sit in the back-dump. I prefer to practice equality of gender.
And then as soon we are on the road, I’m suddenly free of all office and salary worries. I become a part of Roadrash now. The driver escaping other vehicles by mere inches, music blaring – same five hit songs on same old FM channels and pedestrians walking blindly in front of the vehicle, make sure that I pray and that I pray hard. The deadlines are no worry, the lifeline is. And then I enjoy the feeling Karthikeyan has, when he drives at 130kmph, only he is not on Delhi roads amongst scores of DTC/Blue Line buses.
When I want to ignore all this, I prefer listening to the “ladies”. I am dead sure that their talks and home stories are the ones inspiring Ekta Kkkapoor for those painful, ever growing, never ending soap-operas.
Sometimes I look out at the couples on bikes and how they look such lovey-dovey cuddly pairs. Then I think of myself, how I could never learn to ride a bike and therefore could never actually go out with any girl, including my wife :-(( and then I prefer not to look at them.
Perhaps, I should buckle up my seat belt and listen to the drivers talking on walkie-talkies. This seems to be an easier task.
